One of many backgrounds illustrated for the point-and-click adventure game Elroy and the Aliens. This scene we internally called the Bees scene, since it features a puzzle, where you need to get rid of some bees, that obstruct the monolith you want to get to.
The first sketch for this scene had a old truck in the centre. After we figured out what the puzzle should be, I removed the truck and proceeded with the end layout of the scene.
Adding puzzle elements and small details into the composition.
Simple colour study. At one point we were playing with the idea to have the whole sequence in the night/evening. Alas, we abandoned the idea.
